Following exhaustive research, negotiation and consultation I have been able to block 20 rooms at the Howard Johnson's Motel, August 9-11 (Thursday to Sunday) . . . this motel is located 1 block from the Falls and the Casino and is right in the centre of the tourist district surrounded by many attractions, bars, and restaurants . . . this means that you can walk to the Falls and only ride if you want to, in other words you can indulge and not have to worry about a safe return to the hotel . . . the hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool, restaurant and is biker friendly and right across the street from TGIF (restaurant/bar, natch). . . from here we can arrange scenic rides and other activities (ie. a ride to Toronto to scare my neighbours!). I have arranged a rate of $199.00 Cdn which, at today's exchange rate is $129.00 US (for us Canucks only) and this could be even better by check-in time at the rate our dollar is falling . . . you must remember that Niagara Falls is very popular (ie. expensive) especially on weekends and August is prime time . . . in other words, this is an excellent rate. To reserve your room you should call the hotel directly at 1-800-565-4656 (905-357-4040) and tell Jenny McNamara you are with the VRCC group to get this rate. And you must do this before July 9. I am really looking forward to having my VRCC buddies come up to Canada and Niagara Falls is an excellent location for a get together, regardless of what your agenda might be. If the initial response is any indication, I think we should be able to fill these 20 rooms easily.
