Jacket Scratch Repairs

During the course of my accident , my leather jacket was severely scuffed and
scratched. Being the frugal? guy I am, I decided to try to repair (or cover) the
damaged areas.

I decided to try a little black shoe polish to cover the deep scratches. I broke
out the can of Kiwi brand black shoe polish. On the can are the words "Water
Resistant and Leather Nourishing". Perfect. I used a small cloth and began
working the polish into the scratches. I think it worked quite well as evidenced
from the photos below. Over time, I'm sure the jacket will require a little
touchup (just like dress shoes), but hey, it beats throwing the jacket away!
Check out the pics below.

As it turns out, one week later, I received a replacement jacket for Christmas
'99. Kris had already ordered it and it was en route while she watched me
polish the damaged jacket. I think she was as surprised and pleased at the
outcome of the repairs as I was, but she didn't let on that I would soon find a
new one under the Christmas tree. Now I have two. One new and one "almost
new". <grin>

So, polish away those scratches. Go ahead, it won't hurt!
