Boy was it a weekend! 5 Bikes meet at the start point while the others deceided to take an extra day and leave on Friday. We left on time for Vegas (8:00am) and headed east. The first stop was Baker. We made it by 9:30 and meet Wayne and Rod from Vegas for the ride in. We made it to Vegas by 11:15 and to the hotel by 11:30 and that was with a half hour stop in Baker. Needless to say we bent the speed limit a bit. It was nice to have 2 hour break before moving on to the Valley of Fire. I think most of us were able to get our rooms and have lunch at the buffet. Jim from Las Vegas led the 16 bikes through the Valley of Fire and showed us some great rock formations with wonderfull colors. After the tour we jammed back to the hotel for a break and dinner. John G was the 50/50 winner and can you believe it, he didn't gamble it away. Sunday morning we had a lite breakfest and said goodbye to those who wanted to take another way home. We were rolled out at around 10:00am for home.We took hwy 95 toward Needles for our first stop for gas. It was quite cool and I got to try out my new Gerbing jacket liner. Boy does it work great. I don't know why I waited so long to get one. We called Phil from Needles and made plans to meet him and Vicki in 29 Palms for lunch and join us for the ride back. Vidal junction for a quick splash of gas for the smaller tanks to make it into 29 Palms. We timed it perfect.Just as we stopped for gas Phil and Vicki rode up. We then made a stop at Carls Jr. for a quick lunch and to visit with them for a while. Once again I want to thank Wayne,Jim and Rod for helping to get this ride together. I'm sure we will be heading to Vegas again in the future. Next ride is February 17 to the Ronald Reagan Museum. Details to follow soon. Ride safe, Dave |
