 Highway 1

Ride Report&

Pictures

Boy lot's of different temperatures on this ride!

But I wouldn't have missed it!

It was a warm and sunny day on Friday when I left home to meet up with Wayne. I rode to Barstow to join him and ride to Castaic to stay the nite and relax for the next day. It was 108 when we hit Mojave for gas and refresh our cool vest. It got down to 100 by the time we hit Castaic around 3:30.

Saturday Wayne and I got up early to join the group for breakfast at Ihop. It was a small group this time around. Maybe the weather kept everyone away. We left on time with around 7 bike and 1 trike. Once we got to the coast it was a bit foggy and you couldn't see much of the ocean for a while. Buz left us at our first gas stop in Buellton. It was great to ride with him on that new trike. Our next gas stop was at San Luis Opispo. Bladedog, Tushkush and their friend Clay met up with us there. It was great to meet them and I know they enjoyed the ride. They left us at Carmel for their ride back to Lompoc. Lunch was at the Main Street Grill in Cambria. It was a nice 72 degrees so we could eat outside. Mike and Kati left us from there and made their way home. So we were down to 5 bikes by the time we reached Gilroy. We had a nice dinner and made our plans for the ride home. Carl stayed and went to check on a boat he sold and Jimmy left at 6:00am to try and beat some heat. It was Joe, Donna, Wayne and myself took off around 8:00am for breakfast in Hollister. As we headed down Hwy 25 it got quite warm very quickly. It was around 95 degrees by the time we hit the 198 hwy. From there Joe and Donna left Wayne and I to try and take a cooler way home along the 101 hwy. He called me and said it was still plenty hot with some traffic on the 101. Wayne and I went to meet my friend Terry in Coalinga. Terry made it by 11:30 to met us. It was already 106 which made it a hot ride to his house. His air was on and it felt great to rest up and cool off. Wayne and I had dinner with Terry and his wife Joann and watch a movie. We left at 6:00am Monday morning to try and beat some of the heat going through the desert. It wasn't to bad and I made it home around 12:00 noon after stopping a Chaparral.

Thanks for a great ride everyone, see you on the next one.

Thanks Bladedog for the great Pictures.

Dave
