Sedona

After an unbelievable breakfast on the deck (homemade granola with maple yoghurt, smoothies, scones and muffins, baked Tuscan eggs with potatoes and sausage) we decided to stroll over to the Tlaquepaque shopping village to browse. After covering most of the village, Rob and Daryl walked up the hill to Uptown to explore, while the others found a comfortable spot for less energetic Sunday past times. We all met and decided to walk back to the Inn on the opposite side of the road to check out shops and a huge gallery across the street from the Inn. Of course, the skies got black and opened up with a huge downpour, which allowed Diane and Judy to model new plastic bag headgear. During a break in the rain, everyone headed back to the Inn for an afternoon break before appetizers and wine. We changed our dinner reservation from 7:30 to 6:30 and went to Dahl and Di Luca, highly recommended by everyone we talked to. This restaurant is very stylish, with a varied menu and a good kitchen. By the time we headed back to the B&B, the rain was back and we all saw the lightning show from our cozy rooms.

After another fabulous breakfast Monday morning (more granola, melon and berries, different scones and muffins, ham and cheese waffles with burbon maple syrup and breakfast meats), we split into 2 groups of 2 for the drive home. The Sommars and Urmans wanted to go through Jerome and Prescott. The Venns and Webers were eager to get home and chose to freeway route, with only gas/potty stops and no lunch. Outside Phoenix, we hit a huge sandstorm and more torrential rains which continued until we got through Palm Springs. We got home around 4 p.m. or so, allowing Judy time to prepare for work the next day and Rob and Daryl a chance to switch cars and pick up the dog at the kennel.

In all, it was another wonderful and exciting COTV road trip.
