Kansas City to Decatur

While the mileage to the target was somewhat less on this Sunday, we needed time as we were going to make two major stops – MidAmerica Motorsports in Effingham, IL and the Chevrolet Hall of Fame Museum in Decatur, IL. So it was a freeway day, taking I-70E through the state of Missouri and then up in the direction of Chicago and stopping in about 355 miles at MidAmerica. Probably all Corvette enthusiasts have ordered something from MidAmerica. The corporate HQ, retail store and museum are not far off I-70. There was only one employee in the retail area and the museum, but Marilyn and Daryl had a lot of success at the Sale Rack. We grabbed a hamburger at a Hardee's and headed for Decatur, only another 72 miles away. We needed to see the Hall of Fame Museum on a Sunday, because it was not open in the early part of the week and we had somewhere to be by mid-week. The Museum is established in a former grocery store and still has some small town charm, as well as a great stable of cars. After one hour plus, we headed through Decatur, which seems to be the soy capital of the US, seeing all the mills and run-down areas before ending at a new HIE, with a Cracker Barrel right next door. For Rob, the chicken and dumpling special hit the spot.
