Vettes on the Rockies

St. George to Escalante

July 16th, leaving St. George and only 90 degrees.  The drive through Zion was beautiful, Ron Rich led us through some beautiful country, we went slow and enjoyed the sights.

We stopped for Bumbleberry pie at 9:30am, what a treat.  A Bumbleberry is a Burple and Binkel berry that grows on a giggle bush.  Now you know as much as we do.  Ha Ha

We drove up to the gates of Zion Park and we turned around.  Road full of pot holes and a mess.  Park Ranger said she would not drive her Honda and would not advise us driving our Corvettes.  We turned around and drove down the 14 to Cedar Breaks.  The drive down the Canyon was beautiful, overcast sky and temp in the mid 90s.  Temp going down very nice going on to Bryce Canyon.

Stopped for lunch at the BIKERS, BURGERS AND BEDS "GALAXY INN". What a neat place.  Food was great and we talked to a lot of bikers going through.

Off we went to Bryce Canyon, Oh my what a beautiful sight.  We left Bryce and continued on to Esclante. The Bed & Breakfast Grand Staircase is beautiful.  The rooms are very nice, complete with a 'BEAR' at the end of the bed.  The heat has zapped all of us.  Off to dinner and then to Bed.

Breakfast at the Bed and Breakfast was wonderful and we were on the road by 8:30am.  We all gassed up and the temp was only 76 degrees.  A nice cool morning.

We took state Route 12 across the Grand Staircase, what a beautiful road.  What a sight to see 6 Corvettes wind through this beautiful Canyon.  We traveled through Scenic Hwy 12.  One of the locals stopped us on the road to point out the Grand Chair in rock formation. It's a wonder we didn't get hit on the highway as we were in the middle of the road.
