I am in love with my 2001 Valkyrie. However there are a couple exceptions and concerns. IMHO ... 1) Factory custom accessories seemed to be high priced, selection is very limited, and not that impressive for such a fine piece of engineering like the Valkyrie. Please check into the Kuryakin line of accessories. I immediately swapped out stock parts for the Kuryakin parts, (highway pegs, foot pegs, pass. boards and handle grips and other parts), they are much more comfortable, look a lot better and are very durable to boot as well as being affordable for the quality. 2) Seat. For a bike this nice what happened to the seat engineering phase? Man what a tail bone cruncher! Almost every Valkyrie I've seen that has over 3,000 - 7,000 miles on it does not have a stock seat. Most have a Corbin or other after mkt. seat, ! Get the picture ??? I hope so. 3) Handle bar risers, for the riders that get very uncomfortable, reaching out like me, instead of simply laying our hands on the controls like it should be, or at least should be offered by Honda. I purchased 4 1/4" chrome risers from Cycle House and I did not need to buy longer cables), and they solved the problem perfectly. 4)I would like to see the 1800 motor available on stock Valkyries like mine. 5) Also a 6 speed transmission, or an overdrive gear, for lower rpm freeway cruising. TIA & EOM
Honda, you have created a masterpiece. the Valkyrie is by far the best style and performance bike ever built; It can only get better ! how about 2003cc in 2003.
If I wanted a V-Twin I would have bought one. I traded a Vulcan 1500 for My Valk and will NEVER go back. A new Valk must be 1800cc, have a lower seat height and maintain the attitude of the current model. A six speed transmission would be nice. Anything less would be no better and probably worse than what I have now.
bring back the Valk interstate with an 1800 engine.
Just a T-bag. I have everything else. The bike is great. John.
I own a 1999 Interstate. In the 2 years and 10 months that I have owned this bike, I've logged just under 50,000 miles. For me, my Valkyrie is the most complete motorcycle I have ever owned. I've never considered myself a devout enthusiast. The motorcycles I owned in the past were basically for recreational use only. None sportbikes, mainly standards and V-twin Cruisers. In 1997, when I first saw the Valkyrie, I was taken in by its style and design. I owned a '94 Honda Shadow VT1100C at the time which I had bought for myself for my 60th birthday in the summer of "93. Thinking it would be my last motorcycle, I was very content until I saw the Valkyrie Interstate for the first time. I had to have it. Untested, I put a deposit on the first one my dealer was to receive in February of that year. I was there at the dealership when the all black bike rolled off the truck. I've been riding "nonstop" ever since. Honda MUST continue manufacturing this magnificent machine. There is nothing like it on the road. Even when the wonderful new 1800cc Goldwing was introduced, it could not replace the Valkyrie. It is one of a kind.
I have a 2001 interstate, I would like to see the louvered vent in the fairing have the ability to be closed. ever ride in the rain? it sucks when the water comes through the vent onto the inside of the window! also a somewhat softer factory issue seat, so we don't all have to buy a Corbin seat after paying for a new bike. plus- more accessories, Honda is really missing the boat on this one, Harley makes a fortune on after-market products, why cant Honda wake up and offer us more dress'up options?
1) Rear tire removal made easier, similar to new Gold Wing 2) Interstate fairing with storage minus radio or electronics (option) 3) Adjustable windshield height on Interstate fairing
I have owned my 2000 Valkyrie Interstate since July of 2000. As far as I am concerned, there is no better handling nor any faster Cruiser on the market. This motorcycle seems to have a larger, more vocal, and truly dedicated followers than any other motorcycle I have ever had the pleasure to own. I believe my next motorcycle will also be a Honda, as long as the Valkyrie or its equivalent is continued.
1832c.c. motor, fuel reserve idiot light, self canceling directional.
My Valkyrie Interstate is a wonderful machine. I most definitely think Honda should keep the Valkyrie Interstate in its lineup. The only improvements that I would make is add the 1800cc motor and add the electronic cruise control. The stereo could be a little more user friendly.
air shocks for my wife
I HAVE A NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE A REAR END WHINE AT 50-60 MPH IN ANY GEAR. MY DEALER CHANGED THE RING AND PINON GEAR, BUT THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. IF IT WAS THE REAR END THAT SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST CHANGED THE NOISE SOME WHAT. I HAVE TALKED TO TWO OTHER DEALERS THAT SAY ITS NORMAL. I DON'T THINK HONDA WOULD CONSIDER IT NORMAL. THE BIKE HAS 9000 MILES NOW. I FIRST STARTED HEARING IT AT ABOUT 8000.THANKS FOR ANY INFO OR HELP
The Valkyrie is a unique motorcycle in a (cruiser) market of look-alikes. It is also a superb machine. Suggested improvements would be electronic cruise control available for all models (you should keep the Interstate and Tourer), electronic fuel injection, 1800cc motor. That's it.
Would like the following: Bigger Engine (at least 1800) Electronic Cruise Control Self canceling turn signals Fuel gauge Bring on the new Valk!
Would like to see an improved 1800cc for the entire Valk line of scooters( Al frame would be nice) and overall price reduction in HondaLine after market parts and accessories. Would like to see Dealerships were they treated Customers with RESPECT and less concerns over how much money is the customer going to spend. Would have liked the 2001 Interstate's fairing cowlings fit up better and the electronics provide better reception and clarity in the sound system. For a m/c system it is acceptable yet could have been improved upon from the design standpoint instead of relying on the custom to go for aftermarket designs and reliability. What would have been nice for a scooter such as the Valk would have a FORWARD CONTROL design over the standard control design. If there is a new Valk, design it with Forward controls stock as well a adjustable clutch and front lever such as the Kawasaki scooter has incorporated. A new Interstate with better rear lighting...more visible to the upcoming traffic. And a louder stock warning or horn system.
Bigger and meaner, but not too radical. It's got to still be a touring machine.
1800 MOTOR, ALUM. FRAME, EVERY THING ELSE IS PERFECT
Best machine I have ever ridden.
At least 1800cc engine, efi, longer interval for valve adjustment
Best damn cruiser on the market, bar none. Make it 1800cc and add a sixth gear and we'd be in nirvana.
I pretty much like my standard Valkyrie the way it is. I feel the accessories are a little spendy.
Love the Lady. One of the best bikes that I have ever had. Would love to see an 1800 CC in the next one but also would like it to be not only in a straight F6 but also in an Interstate Model.
The Valkyrie is the best stock curser ever made. The only thing that I would like to see as a change is a 1800cc engine. Danny
1800 engine and aluminum frame; adjustable height on Interstate windshield.
I really love the smooth ride the Valkyrie delivers. It has good power and handles well especially for such a big bike. All this wrapped up in killer good looks! Even the Harley Davidson crowd admires it! Don't change the looks, bring back at least the tourer and interstate models and how about an 1800 cc motor with a little more horsepower?
I RODE BIKES OF ALL KINDS UNTIL THE KIDS CAME. STILL RODE DIRT/TRAIL BUT STAYED OFF THE STREET. WELL AFTER 21 YEARS OF STAYING OFF THE ROAD, IT WAS TIME TO GET BACK IN THE SADDLE. ALWAYS WANTED ONE BUT NEVER COULD AFFORD A HARLEY IN MY YOUNGER DAYS. BUT AT THIS STAGE OF MY LIFE I COULD FINALLY BUY ONE IF I SO CHOSE TO. AFTER 3 TO 4 MONTHS SHOPPING, RESEARCHING, KICKING TIRES, AND CONVERSERING WITH OTHER RIDERS, I BOUGHT A 1999 GREEN/SILVER INTERSTATE. I NEVER EVEN TEST RODE A VALKYRIE, BUT I KNEW THAT WAS THE BIKE FOR ME. SO I CALLED THE HONDA SHOP BOUGHT ONE OVER THE PHONE, TOOK MY TRUCK FOR THE 60 MILE RIDE PICKED HER UP, CAME HOME and 3 DAYS LATER RODE and OWNED A STREET BIKE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 21 YEARS. NEVER TO THIS DAY HAVE I REGRETTED MY CHOICE OF SCOOTERS. THE VALKYRIE OUT SCORES ANY BIKE I HAVE EVER OWNED OR HAVE RIDDEN (WHICH INCLUDES ANY BIKE MADE). AS FOR A "NEW SCOOTER":..THE ONLY BIKE THAT I WOULD SETTLE FOR WOULD BE ONE AS DEPENDABLE AS THE ONE I HAVE NOW, IT WOULD BE 1800cc or BIGGER (VALKYRIE INTERSTATE OF COURSE). THE NEW VALK (INTERSTATE) "MUST" COME OUT OF THE CRATE EQUIPPED WITH RUNNING BOARDS, REAR SPEAKERS, DRIVERS BACK REST AND CD PLAYER. MAYBE A LITTLE BETTER GAS MILEAGE, BUT OF COURSE I'LL TAKE PERFORMANCE OVER GAS MILEAGE. THAT'S MY STORY and I'M STICKING TO IT.....
Love the Valk I have (2000 std) the only things I would like to see changed, is to get things to fit a little better to offer a little more leg room...ie...room for forward controls. Also, it would be nice to have a sixth gear, so the bike is not revving so high.
I have been nothing but pleased with my current Valkyrie, a 01 Standard. I sold my 96 Shadow VLX and was going to wait a few years to buy another bike. I was planning to save up for a Harley. Then I stumbled on the VRCC web site and read all about the Valkyrie. I got the bug bad and within 2 months I bought my new Valk and haven't had a moment of regret. What I like about my current Valk is that it is a Hotrod bike, that it is unique (it is not another V-TWIN CLONE!), there is nothing else like it. It gains much respect everywhere I go. I like the power, the smoothness, and how balanced the bike is. It turns heads everywhere. I like that I can take it on longer trips (it handles the open road great), the Valks performance makes me forget about it's lower gas mileage. The things I don't like about my current Valk are the the miserable sounding Stock Mufflers (I've since replaced them with louder pipes), the seam caused by the muffler tips, and a few area's of the bike that could use more fit and finish. I'd like to see a new 1800 - 2000cc Valkyrie with an aluminum frame, that continues in the spirit of the current Valkyrie. It should blow away the crowd and set an all around performance benchmark. That would be enough to make me add another Valk to the stable! Ditch the sappy jingled ads and do more in the spirit of the rooster tail powerslides across the salt flats. Market this thing for what it is, a baddass goundpounding HOTROD! Also, set up demo rides so folks can experience just how well this bike handles. The bike is physically intimidating and probably scares some people off because they don't think they can handle such a big bike. I know I didn't think I could, but I talked to other Valk riders on the VRCC and they told me otherwise.
lower seat maybe F.I. {fuel injection} aux or running lights in rear
I clearly remember the first time I saw a Valkyrie. I had not had a bike for several years and did not keep up with all of the models/makes. So I didn't know anything about the Valkyrie. I passed one going the other way, I was so taken by the size and the look.....I turned around and followed him for quite some time. I immediately knew that this was the bike for me. I love my Valkyrie, it is without doubt the very best bike on the market. Even if the v-rod (or any other v-twin) performs better that the Valkyrie, it will never have the uniqueness and overall performance of one. There are some things that I'd like to see on future Valkyries. 1800 (or larger) engine EFI gas gauge signal cancellers gauges you can clearly read at any time of the day
I would like to see a more laid back Valkyrie. One with floor boards and forward controls, and pulled back bars like the early vt1100s had. More of a chopper style, stripped down about 100 pounds or more. I think it would make a great second bike to have with my tourer.
The Valkyrie is very good as is but could be better with a few changes such as; 1800cc engine, 6 spd overdrive transmission, improved gas mileage, fuel injection, a "real" helmet lock, lighter weight.
1800+ FI
The Valkyrie was always the 'one' that I wanted to have at the end of it all so to speak. Now I have and I/S and couldn't be happier. I might try to get a new one if they came out, but not right away, my current Valk is plenty bike for me right now. David J. Dupuis Jr. AKA: Baby Dave
1) 6TH GEAR! 2) Increased fuel capacity 3) Better instrumentation lighting Holmes
More room for my feet. Would like to be able to stretch my legs ou about 1.5" to 2"
I understand why you made the VTX, you needed a V-twin to offer people who insist on "tradition". I bought my 97 Valkyrie because it threw tradition out the window and defined "power cruising". I want a new Valkyrie. I want one with a lot more power than any other cruiser by any other manufacturer. I don't care about conveniences - I want power and I want more than 2 or 4 cylinders! The flat 6 is what makes the Valkyrie so unique. 1800cc would be fine but you'd really catch the world on fire with 2000 cc's. The VRCC has over 14,000 reasons why you should make the new Valkyrie.
lower center of gravity for lighter feel. new 1800cc engine
Like it just the way it is (maybe more CC's)
2000 cc
The current Valkyrie is fine. Best bike I've owned including three HD's. If a future model is in the making, the 1800 engine would be a nice addition, plus additional paint options.
I love my Valkyrie Interstate!!!! I have over 40,000 miles on my '99! The changes I would appreciate, as I spend as much time as possible on my trusty steed, are as follows: 1)four-way flashers (ya know for when I stop to help the broke down H-Ds :) ) 2)electronic cruise control 3)a close-able windshield vent (if you tuck behind the windshield in the rain, the vent directs just enough rain drops into your face to drive a guy NUTS!) 4) self-canceling turn signals 5)Lastly and Most Obviously, MORE ENGINE!!! 1800+cc, fuel injected, fire-breathin', ground shaking, eyeball popping, pure unadulterated HORSEPOWER (I'm addicted! I've never experienced too much horsepower... but I'd like to try!) Bottom line here... My Valk is the most awesome scoot I've ever owned or been privileged to ride. I ride with a group of sportbike riders and they are simply astounded at the speed, cornering, and wheelies that I pull on my two-wheeled sled! Way to go Honda!!!! Keep 'em comin'!! P.S. What the heck... throw in a CD player!
would like a 1800cc engine in a Valkyrie. but PLEASEEEEEEEEEE! do not discontinue it! THANKS! tc monroe,mi.
I love my Valkyrie Tourer. It has style, class, power and great handling. I would love to see an 1800cc fuel injected model. I would like a bigger tank and a self canceling turn signal. The only thing that could get me to change from my current Valkyrie is another Valkyrie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Love the Valkyrie. It is... 1.) The best power curser on the market 2.) With all around well designed controls. 3.) Very Reliable 4.) Great Honda line accessories I would like to see... 1.) 1800+cc Fuel injected motor (with hydraulic lifters). 2.) More ground clearance (lean angle). 3.) Better factor seat. 4.) More rear lighting (brake) 5.) A C.B. That works. (For what they cost) 6.) More aerodynamic windshield 7.) Better horn Beep beep. 8.) 1800+cc Fuel injected motor (with hydraulic lifters). 9.) 1800+cc Fuel injected motor (with hydraulic lifters). 10.) 1800+cc Fuel injected motor (with hydraulic lifter)
